Halladay tossed six effective innings and the Philadelphia Phillies

Jonathan Huberdeau is making it difficult to knock the Saint John Sea Dogs from the top of the league standings. Huberdeau scored the winning goal with 30 seconds remaining in the third period as his Sea Dogs edged the host Shawinigan Cataractes 2-1 on Saturday in Quebec Major Junior Hockey League action. The win is the seventh in a row for Saint John and gives them a three-point lead over the Cataractes for first place in the league. Charles-Olivier Roussel also scored for the Sea Dogs (38-13-2) while Nathan Beaulieu chipped in with two assists. Maximilien Le Sieur scored the lone goal for the Cataractes (35-12-5), who lost for the second time in as many nights. Matthieu Corbeil made 37 saves for the win and first star of the game as Gabriel Girard turned away 23 shots in defeat. Saint John went 2 for 5 on the power play while Shawinigan failed to score on five opportunties. Elsewhere in the QMJHL, it was: Chicoutimi 5, Rouyn-Noranda 1; Drummondville 2, Rimouski 1; Acadie-Bathurst 5, Halifax 1; Blainville-Boisbriand 2, Quebec 1 and Gatineau 6, Val-d-Or 3. At Shawinigan, Que., Le Sieur opened the scoring at 14:17 of the first period to give the Cataractes a 1-0 lead. The game stayed in Shawingans favour much of the second period, but Roussel scored on the power play at 18:51 to tie the game 1-1 after 40 minutes of play. Despite outshooting the Sea Dogs through the third period, a late penalty taken by Jonathan Racine led to a power-play goal for Huberdeau at 19:30. --- Sagueneens 5 Huskies 1 At Saguenay, Que., Sebastien Sylvestre scored three times and Christopher Gibson made 25 saves as the Sagueneens (28-16-9) defeated Rouyn-Noranda (16-31-5) for their sixth win in seven games. --- Voltiguers 2 Oceanic 1 At Drummondville, Que., Andre Bouvet-Morrissette scored both goals for the Voltiguers (22-25-7) as they picked up at least one point in their seventh straight game by defeating Rimouski (32-22-0). --- Titan 5 Mooseheads 1 At Halifax, N.S., Christophe Lalancette scored twice and Robert Steeves turned away 31 shots as Acadie-Bathurst (26-22-5) beat the Mooseheads (28-18-5) for their first win in three outings. --- Armada 2 Remparts 1 At Boisbriand, Que., Jess Tanguy scored the winning goal and Etienne Marcoux made 32 saves as the Armada (29-20-3) handed Quebec (32-13-7) their third straight loss --- Olympiques 6 Foreurs 3 At Gatineau, Que., Alex Zafiris scored three goals and Jacob Conrad picked up three assists as the Olympiques (20-24-8) snapped a five-game losing streak by beating Val-dOr (21-28-4).
